Note: this bedroom shares the master bath on the same floor or the 1/2 bath on the second floor. Because of this, the house is really ideal for a couple but could also work for a small family or for friends who are very comfortable with each other. The property has been designed for sustainability and beauty making this a prime spot for eco-tourism. The house is solar powered (grid-tied to local power company so you don't need to worry about loosing power), water harvesting (water catchment) and there is a significant focus on organic and sustainable food production on the farm. The farm follows organic and permaculture design principles. There is high speed and very reliable WIFI. The "House" consists of the top 2 levels of the house. These 2 levels are completely private to you only and have no shared spaces. It is an ideal layout for a couple because of the unique and oversized master suite. The second bedroom is small and does not have its own bathroom, so anyone sleeping in that room will either need to use the bathroom on the 2nd floor or the master suite bathroom. The ground-level of the house operates as its own private rental for up to 2 guests and is an open-air lanai space, private room and full-bathroom. The ground-level is private to the "Ohana" guests and also has no shared spaces. If you would like to rent this as well (either for added privacy or if you want to vacation with more people), you may book the Garden View ohana as well - check it out on our profile. We also have a 3rd rental across the mango orchard available for rent as well. COMMITMENT TO SUSTAINABILITY: We are committed to sustainability and would love to encourage you to vacation sustainably as well. The house has a grid-tied solar system and solar hot water. Please be mindful of energy consumption during your stay. We have a 10K gallon water catchment for irrigation on the house. We also have installed a reverse osmosis water filter on the kitchen sink so you have the purest drinking water and do not need to buy bottles of water. We use Dr Bronners organic & biodegradable soap, Ginger Lily Farm Botanicals Shampoo, Conditioner and Body Wash (all Paraben and Sulfate Free) and use Free-and-Clear laundry detergent. We avidly recycle and compost. We sell in all-natural, reef safe and plastic free sunscreen made locally by "Little Hands" - let us know if you would like to try some or buy some so that you are both protecting your body and the ocean while on the Big Island. We buy OEKO-TEX and organic bed linens to support the environment and our commitment to health and well-being. Guest access You are more than welcome to roam and enjoy the property - but please do not enter any structure other than your own. We sell all natural, reef safe and plastic free sunscreen made locally by "Little Hands" Massages from the "Tao Within Massage" are available onsite. We offer Esalen, Deep Tissue, Chi Nei Tsang and Lomi Lomi. We also offer detox packages. We offer fruit for purchase depending on what is in-season. On the property, there are variety of fruit trees, including 8 varieties of mango (~65 trees), 3 varieties of banana, 2 variety of avocado, coconut, moringa, papaya, tangelo, lemon, lime, tangerine, suriname cherry, ulu (breadfruit), figs, lilikoi (passionfruit), Hawaiian chili pepper, lemongrass, kafir lime, ginger, tumeric. In the center of the property, next to a grove of banana trees, there are vegetable and herb gardens, all grown organically with permaculture and korean natural farming methods. We have no control over what Mother Nature provides, so apologies in advance if fruit is out-of-season when you are here. ASK for a farm tour if you would like to see what we have going on!! We are 1 mile from spectacular Kealakekua Bay, host to turquoise water with amazing visibility, beautiful coral reefs & exotic tropical marine life including spinner dolphins. The Bay offers world-class snorkeling, paddle boarding and kayaking. Surfing is also available nearby at Ke'ei, and Kahaluu. Also nearby: Big Island Bees, Peleaku Peace Gardens, Painted Church, Puuhonua a Honaunau... Other things to note ~ The house is ideal for couples. Please review the details of the listing if booking for 4 to decide if it is appropriate for your group ~ The entire farm respects quiet hours 9pm-8am with no music and only quiet conversations during those hours because no one closes their windows in Hawaii :-) The overall feel of the farm is quiet and tranquil, so all guests are asked to be mindful of noise ~ This rental is located on an organic tropical fruit farm and can have mosquitos, bugs, spiders and geckos/critters. We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, but remember, you are on a farm. There can be wild and free-roaming chickens and roosters. You will hear birds of all kinds, coqui frogs (at night) and you might even spot a mongoose running across the farm. We also have farm cats and although they are so sweet and friendly, they are not allowed in the house. When driving up, you might be greeted by our very friendly farm dog, JiJi. We mention all of this in case you want a fully sanitized or animal free experience - if so, this is not your best choice :-) Even though we are an organic farm, we contract with a monthly pest service to ensure the best possible experience while on the farm. We have very high standards and want this to show :-) ~ No guests allowed other than those included in the reservation. No gatherings. ~ The Mango Farm is a place for relaxation, restoration and re-charging ~ There is high speed and very reliable WIFI. If you are working while on vacation, please be mindful of loud conference calls ~ We are a working, organic mango farm with 65 mango trees and about 15 other types of fruit trees (permaculture, organic, korean natural farming practices), and we have extensive vegetable and herb gardens. We also make essential oils of lemongrass, tulsi, curry leaf, cinnamon, nutmeg, citrus, basil, catnip and many other botanicals. We make plant-based medicine and value-added products like moringa powder, mango chutney and tinctures from time-to-time, so let us know if you're interested in products we are making. ~ We are very easy to reach via the Airbnb app and also have full-time and on-site caretakers. We encourage you to reach out if you need anything. ~ Please get permission to use a drone so we can ensure the privacy of our other guests ~ Checkout our IG and tag us! @themangofarmlife

Also nearby: Big Island Bees, Peleaku Peace Gardens, Painted Church, Puuhonua a Honaunau. There is a wonderful market 10 minutes away Choicemart, nearby farmers markets on Saturday and Sunday and a small local market that sells only locally produced food (Kainaliu Fresh) that's 15 minutes away. We have a binder in the rental with all of our favorite cafes, restaurants, beaches, activities and businesses. Nature based living! Think possible mosquitoes, geckos, wild chickens/roosters, coqui frogs, birds, bees, insects, mongoose.. We are viligant about routine pest management, but to enjoy this experience, you need to be at one with nature. We are a HOSTED rental, which is leagally required for Agvzoned rentals like ours.

Public transportation is not an option in this area. You'll definitely need to rent a car. Even though we are only 1 mile from Kealakekua Bay, it is down a windy road (400ft climb) without a shoulder, so not the ideal beach walk :-)
